Eileen Sutton

Eileen was born and raised in New York on Long Island. She was somewhat of a metal purist until her last semester at Tyler School of Art. It was then that she began working with cast resin. When she finished school, she stayed in Philadelphia because there was a great community of artists and craftspeople. There is also a strong bicycling community in and around Philadelphia. Some of her earliest pieces were from lines she saw painted on the road while cycling. She realized then that she didn’t have to go back to N.Y.C. to get inspired. Her forms are influenced by the color and materials she uses, along with what she sees in the world around her. Now that she has a family, she gets inspiration from going to an arboretum or working in the garden.
