Kathy Hastings

Water related images have been an ongoing theme in the life of artist/photographer Kathy Hastings.  On calm days, you can find Kathy in her kayak searching out images of worn and torn hulls that give off living reflections, leaving the artist a small clue as to the life of the vessel.  Kathy mounts her photos onto plywood, then using encaustic, layers of melted beeswax, along with oil paint, oil pastels and mica powder, she adds depth to the final product.  You can almost hear the sea as her work invites you in.
