Clay & Paper Stoneware Pottery
"The notion of the humble potter making pots for every day use is very appealing to me", says Clay and Paper artist Ira Burhans. Over 30 years Burhans has found the relationship between form, texture and and glaze. Burhans received his BFA from St. Cloud State University, followed by an internship at Clayworks Studio Workshop in New York City. From here he perfected numerous forms of ceramics, functional, sculptural, as well as an understanding of the different firing processes that transform the basic raw materials used by a ceramic artist. Three decades has produced a body of work that is shown in fine galleries throughout the United States and as far away as the Virgin Islands and Guam.
